Lansdowne Police Blotter

February 21st, 2007 - February 25th, 2007

On February 25th, 2007 at 0310 hrs, Officer Kenneth Rutherford of the Lansdowne Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a maroon Chevy Impala traveling west bound on Baltimore Ave. The driver, Jameel Lockett 27yrs old of Chester City was the driver of the vehicle. After being stopped by Rutherford, Lockett accelerated with Rutherford in pursuit. Lockett was boxed in on Baltimore Ave. near Marple Ave. with the assistance of Clifton Heights police. Located on Lockett's person was a M-11 semi auto machine gun with a thirty two round magazine with one round in the chamber. Lockett was arrested and charged with Carrying a firearm without a license, DUI and possession of a small amount of marijuana.


On February 23rd, 2007 at 1323 hrs, a student at the Penn Wood High School was observed with a small baggie containing suspected marijuana. This student, a juvenile male was returned by police to Lansdowne Police Headquarters where he was identified and charged with Disorderly Conduct.


On February 22nd, 2007 at 1312hrs, a fight occurred at the Penn Wood High School involving two female juveniles. In the course of attempting to break up the fight, two security officers were struck by one of the juveniles. Both actors involved were returned to Lansdowne Police Headquarters. One actor was charged with disorderly conduct and released. The other was charged with assault and related offenses and was transported to Lima Juvenile Detention Center.


On February 21st, 2007 at 1610 hrs, the Lansdowne Police received a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Automated teller machine located at the Wachovia bank on W. Baltimore Ave. The victim stated two actors with guns robbed him of $200.00 cash as he was getting ready to enter his vehicle. The victim was able to follow the actors from a distance and notify the police of their location. Responding Lansdowne officers did locate the get away vehicle and initiated a vehicle pursuit through the borough. The suspect vehicle did crash at the dead end of West Stewart Ave. and both actors fled on foot. Officer David Schiazza was able to apprehend suspect #1, Jamal SOLOMON of Philadelphia Pa. in the rear of houses located on Bryn Mawr Ave. SOLOMON was the driver of the get away vehicle. Upon searching SOLOMON, police recovered a black Glock 40cal. hand gun concealed on the suspect. Suspect #2, Latif Kyle SIMMONS also of Philadelphia was located a short time later by a responding Upper Darby Police K-9 unit. SIMMONS was hiding behind a house on West Stewart Ave. A search of the get away car revealed a 40cal. Smith and Wesson hand gun in the same location where SIMMONS was seated in the vehicle. Both actors were wanted by numerous other jurisdictions for crimes including being wanted by the FBI.
