Borough Curfew Law Chapter 162 of the Borough Code
The

No
minor person shall be or remain upon any street, highway,
alley, park or public place in the Borough of Lansdowne after
10:00 p.m. and before the hour of 5:00 a.m. the following
day, except that the restriction shall apply at 12:00 midnight
and remain until 5:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday evening
and the eve and day of New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Yom Kippur, Columbus Day (Monday
holiday), Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, except
for any child 16 years of age or under for whom the curfew
shall be 11:00 p.m. on the days specified. Such restrictions
shall be imposed unless the minor person is accompanied by
his parent guardian or is in the performance of employment
for which he is receiving compensation.
It
shall be unlawful for any parent, guardian or other person
having legal care or custody of a person under the age of
18 years to allow or permit such minor person to be in or
upon any of the streets, highways, alleys, parks or public
places in the Borough of Lansdowne after the hours mentioned.
It
shall be the duty of all policemen of the Borough of Lansdowne
finding any minor person in or upon public places of the Borough
of Lansdowne to take the name of such minor and the name and
address of parent or guardian of the minor, to bring the child
to the police headquarters and to make his report of the incident
at once. The parent or guardian will be contacted immediately
and will be asked to come to the police headquarters as soon
as possible for the purpose of releasing the minor, and a
written notice of the violation shall be handed to the parent
or guardian.
If
after such notice and warning, the minor is again found on
or upon any of the streets, highways or public places in violation
of this chapter, the parent or guardian of the minor shall,
upon being found guilty before a District Justice, be fined
not more than $600, plus costs of prosecution, and in default
of payment of such fine and costs be imprisoned for not more
than 30 days
Summary:
Curfew for ages 17-18 is 10 p.m. weekdays, 12 midnight on
Friday, Saturday and major Holidays.
Curfew for ages 16 and under is 10 p.m. weekdays, 11 p.m.
on Friday, Saturday and major Holidays.
Penalty:
1st offense, written warning
2nd and subsequent offenses will be fined up to $600 plus
costs.
